Official Brooklyn/Harlem120 Rules:
Object:Players attempt to remain in square A the longest. Players attempt to bounce an active ball into another square without allowing more than one bounce in her/his own square. Players attempt to have the maximum amount of fun possible while standing up.
Equipment:
1 Playground ball defined as 8" rubber at 15 psi., one 4-Square Court. (A standard 4-Square court is approximatley 16' x 16' and may be drawn using chalk, flour, tape, white powder, or painted onto your playing surface. It consists of a sixteen foot square evenly divided vertically and horizontally, thus creating four squares. The four squares are then labeled clockwise from top left: A, B, C, D. 4 or more players.
Game Play:
The first four players begin by standing inside A, B, C, D squares. Player in court A
serves the ball into any of the other 3 courts, bouncing once first in court A and once in another court. That player returns the ball back to any court. Play proceeds like this until a player allows a ball to bounce twice in their court, hits the ball out of the court, spikes the ball, or is unable to successfully return the ball to another court. If this occurs, that player rotates out of the game, either by going to the end of the wait line or to court D if there are only four players. The other players in the game rotate up to the empty space. Players may not get out on a serve. Server (A) may call for duel match between questionable plays, or for a redo of the round. A ball hit out of bounds deems the striker out. Two bounces in the same square deems the occupant of that square out. There are no outs on the serve by either the server nor the servee. The server (A) may call for a re-do when prompted by questionable plays as is deemed acceptable by the crowd. The Server (A) may call a Duel between squares on questionable line calls that are within outside bounds. In a Duel: 3 hits in good favor must be registered before duel play may begin. In the case of a duel, combatants return hits until a double bounce in the receiving square or a ball is hit out of bounds by the striker. {old skool} The server (A) may add new rules, however such subsiquent rules are deemed null by any subsiquent server (A) who wishes to add or annul any such rule.
Every new round is served by the player in court A.
